New Programme

Launching November 2021 – The Personal Finance Society and ITN Productions Industry News will be co-creators of a news-style programme, exploring the importance of competent financial planning in a pandemic-informed world.

The pandemic impacted people's finances in different ways, with lockdowns and closures reduced hours and lost jobs while some benefited from reduced spending. Covid-19 undoubtedly highlighted the need to financially prepare for unpredictable market conditions.

Building Financial Resilience will raise awareness and understanding of the importance of financial planning for a more secure future post-pandemic.

The programme will demystify personal finance and will cover key topics such as the benefits of financial education, responsible financial management for greater consumer outcomes, rebuilding savings, insightful planning, protection, later life planning, improving outcomes for the most vulnerable and how to appeal to the younger generation.

Anchored by an ITN Productions presenter, Building Financial Resilience will provide a platform to raise awareness and understanding of the profession, highlight good practice and knowledge, plus it will shine a spotlight on significant contributions to societal advancements.

The programme will premiere in November 2021 and will combine key sector interviews, informative news items and sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring Personal Finance Society members and professional partners.

Sarah Lord, President of the Personal Finance Society, said: "The economic impact of Covid-19 is huge and has highlighted how financial planning and having protection in place is vital if consumers are to overcome the risks they face in a post-pandemic world.

While we may all be hoping to get back closer to our pre-Covid way of life in the weeks, months and years to come, we are pleased to work with ITN to explore how the profession is making sure we don't just return to factory settings and build back our financial resilience better.

Nina Harrison-Bell, Head of ITN Productions Industry News, said:

We are excited to be working with PFS to make a programme that raises awareness of the importance of the financial planning sector to individuals and society. We hope the programme encourages debate and knowledge sharing amongst leaders within the profession and encourages individuals to take ownership of their financial futures.
